Why Women Travel to Bay Harbor Islands for Specialized Care
Written by Eva Taub
Women don’t usually find their way to Bay Harbor Islands because it’s the closest option. Most of the women who sit across from me here have already been somewhere else first — a dermatologist who glanced for a few seconds and said “it’s just hormones, try a retinol,” a med spa that ran a laser over facial hair that had already gone white and wondered privately why nothing happened, a cream that promised to fade a dark patch and left it worse instead. By the time a woman finds this clinic, she isn’t looking for another try at the same thing. She’s looking for someone who can actually explain what’s happening in her own skin, not just offer to treat it.

Women don’t travel to Bay Harbor Islands for a laser. They travel here because they want someone who can explain why their last treatment didn’t work — not someone willing to simply try it again.
That’s the real reason this location exists, and I want to explain it before anything else — before the address, before the hours, before any of the practical details that matter once you’ve already decided this is the right place. Those details are still here, near the bottom of this page, once you’re ready for them. This part is here to help you decide first.
Who Travels Here
Bay Harbor Islands sits inside a wider South Florida practice, and a meaningful number of the women I see here live nowhere near it. Some travel from elsewhere in Florida because a case has become complicated enough that they want a specialist, not another general appointment. Others have simply already tried elsewhere — sometimes more than once — and are done starting over with someone new who has to relearn their case from nothing.
I don’t say this to sound exclusive. I say it because it shapes how I practice here. A woman who has traveled specifically to see me is looking for real answers, and I try to give her the time that deserves.
Who I Built This Location For
I built this location for women who have spent years trying to solve melasma, white facial hair, or menopause-related skin changes without finding lasting answers — not because no one tried to help them, but because so much of what’s offered is built on the wrong assumption: that melasma is ordinary sun damage, that a laser can target hair with no pigment left in it, or that menopausal skin and hair change is simply something to tolerate rather than treat.
If you’ve been told any version of “that’s just what happens” about your skin or your hair as you’ve gotten older, or if you’ve already tried a standard approach to melasma and watched it come back, or watched it get worse — this location was built with exactly that frustration in mind.
What’s Treated Here
Four problems sit at the center of what I do at this location, and each one deserves its own real explanation rather than a single line here. Menopause-related facial hair and skin changes are hormonal, driven by the same shift in estrogen and androgen balance that affects nearly everything else about skin and hair at this stage of life — I’ve written about the full mechanism, and what actually helps, on that page. Melasma and hyperpigmentation is a condition I’ve spent an enormous part of my career on, specifically because it’s so often made worse by well-intentioned treatment elsewhere; the full explanation of why gentle, mandelic-acid-based care outperforms anything aggressive lives on that page. White and gray facial hair is a genuinely different problem from pigmented hair, since no laser can target hair with no pigment left in it — electrolysis is the only method that works, and I explain why on that page. And facial pigmentation more broadly — dark patches and uneven tone that don’t fit neatly into a textbook definition of melasma — is something I evaluate case by case.
Why This Location Is Different
Most providers who offer laser hair removal or a pigmentation treatment are working from a general skill set applied to whatever walks through the door that day. The problems this location focuses on each deserve someone who has spent decades specifically inside them, not someone treating them as one more line on a service menu. Electrolysis in particular is a slow, hands-on, session-by-session skill that very few providers still practice with real depth, because it can’t be sped up the way laser can — I still do it myself, one hair at a time, because it’s the only honest answer for hair a laser will never see.
Why Women Fly Here
Some of the women I treat at this location don’t drive in. They fly. I want to be direct about who that tends to be, because it’s one of the clearest ways this location differs from a neighborhood med spa: women from Latin America and the Caribbean looking for a non-bleaching, mandelic-acid-based approach that isn’t common where they live; women visiting Miami for other reasons who build their trip around finally addressing a melasma or white-hair concern; and women who’ve already tried laser or a pigmentation treatment elsewhere without success, now looking for a second opinion from someone who treats these problems every week, not occasionally.
If any part of that sounds like you, I’d rather you know clearly what this location specializes in before you decide whether it’s worth traveling for.
What Makes Eva Different
For more than four decades, I have focused specifically on pigmentation, hormonal facial hair, electrolysis, and the treatment of darker and diverse skin tones — not as one service among many, but as the actual center of my work. I still perform every treatment myself. There is no rotating staff here, no technician you meet once and never see again; if you come to this location, you are treated by me, every time. Alongside clinical work, I’ve also spent years teaching other estheticians and skincare professionals what I’ve learned, because the mechanisms behind melanin-rich skin and hormonal hair deserve to be understood more widely than they currently are, not held onto as a trade secret.
Before I choose a treatment, I want to understand why the problem developed in the first place — a hormonal shift, sun exposure, a specific habit, or something else entirely. Two women can have what looks like the same dark patch or the same unwanted hair for completely different underlying reasons, and treating the symptom without understanding the cause is exactly what leads to treatment that doesn’t hold.
What I Don’t Do
I don’t perform Botox or fillers, and I don’t chase whatever the latest aesthetic trend happens to be. I’ve built my entire practice around a narrow set of problems — pigmentation, hormonal hair, and the skin changes that come with menopause — and I’ve stayed with them because going deep on a few real problems has always mattered more to me than offering a long menu of everything.
Who Should Not Come Here
I’d rather tell you this plainly than have you find out after booking: this location isn’t the right choice if you’re looking for the cheapest laser package or a same-day cosmetic treatment with no real evaluation first. It’s built for individualized treatment of complex pigmentation and hormonal hair problems, which takes real time and often more than one visit. If that’s not what you need right now, there are faster, less expensive options elsewhere, and I’d rather you know that than be disappointed here.
What Eva Personally Does at This Location
This is where I perform electrolysis myself, session by session, for the white and gray hair laser can’t treat. It’s also where I run the pigmentation protocols I’ve built around mandelic acid, adjusted case by case based on how a client’s own skin is actually responding — not a fixed, one-size-fits-all schedule.
What to Expect at Your First Visit
If you’ve never been here before, I want you to know what the first visit looks like, because uncertainty itself can be part of what keeps women waiting years before they come in. It starts with a real consultation — an actual evaluation of your skin or hair, not a sales conversation. From there, I’ll be honest about what a realistic outcome looks like, including the timeline. If treatment makes sense, we build a plan together, specific to your case. There’s no pressure to commit on the spot, and no follow-up sales call. I’d rather you decide when you’re ready than feel pushed into it.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a consultation before starting treatment? Yes, always — every case starts with a real evaluation, not a treatment booked sight unseen.
Do patients travel here from outside Florida? Regularly, including from other countries — more for melasma, white hair, and menopause-related skin change than for any other reason.
Can white or gray facial hair actually be treated? Yes, but not with laser — laser targets pigment, and white hair has none. Electrolysis is the method that works, and it’s one of the core skills I still practice myself at this location.
Do you treat melasma, or only ordinary dark spots? Both, and I treat them differently, because they aren’t the same condition. Melasma has its own hormonal and sun-driven mechanism, explained in full on the Hyperpigmentation & Melasma page.
Is this the right location if I live in South Florida and just want a standard treatment? It can be, but this location is built around depth in a few specific problems rather than a broad service menu — if your case is straightforward, that’s still worth knowing going in.

Directions, parking, and current hours are confirmed when your consultation is scheduled.
If you’ve been told to simply live with your melasma, your white hair, or the changes menopause has brought to your skin, I invite you to learn first. Read the educational resources on this website, watch my videos, and if you believe I may be able to help, request a consultation. Every consultation is personally reviewed by me. And if you’re not ready for a consultation yet, that’s alright too — you’re welcome to simply learn from what’s here first.
