Why mandelic acid
The molecule is bigger
Mandelic acid is roughly twice the size of glycolic, so it goes in slowly and evenly instead of fast and hot. On melanin-rich skin, fast and hot triggers more pigment, not less — which is why so many products meant to fade dark marks end up deepening them.
No hydroquinone
The FDA has stated that over-the-counter skin lightening products containing hydroquinone are unapproved drugs, and required manufacturers to pull them in 2020. Reported effects include ochronosis — a darkening of the skin that can be permanent.
Nothing that bleaches
No mercury, no bleaching agent, nothing that strips your skin to make it lighter. This corrects the marks and leaves your color exactly where it is. That distinction is the entire point.
Twice a week. It works gradually, the way anything safe on this skin has to. You will not see it overnight, and anything that promises you will is doing something you don’t want done.
Wear sunscreen daily while you use it, or the marks come back and the work is wasted.
