Can Black men get laser hair removal for razor bumps?

Answered by Eva Taub

Yes, and this is one of the most effective treatments I have for Pseudofolliculitis Barbae (PFB) — as long as the laser is actually the right type for darker skin. I use Nd:YAG, specifically calibrated for melanin-rich skin, which targets the hair follicle while minimizing risk to the surrounding skin. That’s different from older or lower-quality laser systems that can burn or discolor darker skin tones, which is exactly why I think choosing a provider experienced specifically with Black and dark skin matters more here than almost anywhere else in cosmetic treatment.

If you are not anywhere near Newnan

Most women who read this page are nowhere near my treatment room, and I am not going to pretend a consultation in Georgia is useful to someone in Ohio.

What I can send you is the same mandelic acid formulation I use on my own clients for exactly this. No hydroquinone. No bleaching agent. Nothing that strips your skin to make it lighter. Used twice a week, and one kit lasts three to five months.
