Can laser hair removal help my Hidradenitis Suppurativa?

Answered by Eva Taub

For many of my clients, yes. I’ve watched laser hair removal in affected areas genuinely reduce how often new flares form, because it reduces the hair follicles involved in that cycle. I want to be clear, though: it isn’t a cure for HS, and it works best alongside medical management from a dermatologist, never as a replacement for it. If you have an HS diagnosis and you’re considering laser, I’d want you talking to both your dermatologist and a laser provider who specifically knows HS and melanin-rich skin — not every provider does.
