Back & Buttocks Facials

Written by Eva Taub

I treat this area constantly, and almost nobody else does — not because it needs treatment less than your face, but because almost no one ever thinks to ask.

You wash your face every day. When was the last time anyone actually treated your back or your buttocks?

The Area Nobody Treats

Think about what your buttocks actually go through every single day. You sit on them for hours — at a desk, in a car, on a couch — and that sitting traps heat, sweat, and friction against skin that has almost no airflow for most of your waking life. Your back goes through its own version of the same thing: sweat, friction from bra straps and tight clothing, workouts, and skin you genuinely cannot see or reach properly yourself. Both areas develop the exact same kind of congestion, clogged pores, and breakouts your face does — for the exact same physiological reasons — and almost nobody treats either one. We clean our faces every morning without thinking about it. The back and buttocks get a bar of soap in the shower and nothing else, for years.

I don’t think that’s a small oversight. I think it’s one of the most consistently neglected parts of the body I see in my entire practice, and it’s genuinely one of the easiest things to actually do something about.

What the Treatment Actually Involves

This uses the same crystal microdermabrasion technique I use on the face — a controlled stream of fine crystals that physically exfoliates away the outer layer of dead skin cells and clears out what’s sitting in clogged pores — adapted to the back and buttocks specifically. After exfoliation and any needed extractions, I follow with an oxygen mask to calm the skin and support healing, the same principle behind the oxygen therapy I use elsewhere in my practice. The combination does for your back or buttocks exactly what a facial does for your face: real exfoliation, real extractions where needed, and a calming, healing step afterward, instead of skin that’s simply been ignored for years at a time.

Why This Matters More Than People Assume

Congestion and clogged pores in an area that never gets treated don’t just sit there quietly. Over months and years, the same cycle plays out here as anywhere else on melanin-rich skin: repeated irritation and inflamed, unaddressed breakouts leave behind post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation — dark marks that build up specifically because nothing was ever done to interrupt the cycle. Treating the back and buttocks isn’t a luxury add-on. It’s addressing an area that’s been quietly accumulating the same kind of damage your face would show if you never washed or treated it either.
